While at Ithaca College, Adam took a pivotal step in his career by joining the professional a cappella group, The Sons of Pitches.

Formed in the mid-2000s in Ithaca, Sons of Pitches was an eclectic group that fused influences from classical, jazz, rock, and hip-hop into their vocal harmonies. Adam initially served as the group's understudy, but as founding members moved on, he took center stage, including an unforgettable performance opening for Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons in front of 20,000 fans at Boston's Hatch Memorial Shell. After a reshuffle, the group rebranded and embarked on a new path with Adam at the helm.

The Fault Line and America’s Got Talent

Adam's career took off with The Fault Line, a reformed group that garnered national attention after participating in Season 2 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Their electrifying performances wowed both the judges—Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and David Hasselhoff—and audiences alike, earning them a spot in the semifinals. This exposure significantly expanded their fan base and opened doors to a national tour, where they performed at venues ranging from college campuses to large concert halls. For Adam, this period was a masterclass in stagecraft and connecting with audiences.

A Move to North Carolina and American Idol

A cappella brought Adam to North Carolina, where he joined the United Arts Council of Raleigh, performing across schools in Wake County. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Mischa, marking a new chapter both personally and professionally. With Mischa’s encouragement, Adam auditioned for *American Idol* in Pittsburgh, impressing judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler with his soulful style and earning a golden ticket to Hollywood.

During American Idol, Adam continued to impress with his dynamic range and emotive performances. He drew comparisons to past contestants like David Cook and Chris Daughtry, blending rock and R&B influences with a unique flair. Although he didn’t make it to the finals, his rendition of "Billie Jean," performed live on G105 Radio, showcased his ability to reinterpret classics in a distinct style inspired by Chris Cornell.

Shortly after American Idol, Adam's connection with the Carolina Hurricanes rooted when he performed the National Anthem for the team in 2012 and later at the prestigious Duke-UNC game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Spaceship Days and a New Chapter

Following American Idol, Adam became the frontman for the band Spaceship Days, a group that earned critical acclaim for their contributions to rock music. Under his leadership, the band received several accolades, including Grammy consideration for their song "December" and winning Best Rock Band at the 2014 & 2015 Carolina Music Awards. Their West Coast tour, which included a performance at the iconic Roxy Theater, cemented their status as an exciting live act.

In 2018, Spaceship Days signed with Spectra Music Group, leading to the release of their album "Into the Blue". The record reflected their evolution, with standout tracks like "New Day" and "Heartbeat" showcasing their pop-rock roots while incorporating mature songwriting. As Adam’s family grew with the birth of his son in 2013, his daughter in 2016, his focus shifted toward balancing family life with his musical pursuits, eventually leading him to form the Adam Lee Decker Trio.

Love Tribe, Transit, and Beyond

In 2017, Adam fronted the high-energy wedding band Love Tribe, expanding his presence in the local music scene. That same year, he and the a cappella group, Transit, won the southern regional semi-final of the A Cappella Open. Their journey culminated at Carnegie Hall, where Adam won the "Outstanding Soloist" award for their rendition of Journey's "Separate Ways."

Adam also reconnected with the Carolina Hurricanes, becoming the Resident National Anthem Singer during their 2017-18 season. This period marked one of the busiest in his career, as he balanced multiple musical endeavors while continuing to grow his family.
